100 DAYS OF SIMPLE LINES
100 Days of Simple Lines began as a journey to get back to the roots of my illustrations and paintings in order to enter a new body of work. Throughout the 100 days however, as it usually happens with any project, the work evolved and manifested into something more beautiful and more real than I could have ever anticipated - a representation of life and the human experience in the simplest form - black lines.
Each drawing is inspired by an event, a feeling, a thought. You can follow along as I post each image and the story that inspired it on Instagram. #100DaysofSimpleLines

SHARE YOUR STORY WITH ME
I am constantly in pursuit of stories and memories that I can capture and represent within this project. If you would like to share something with me to potentially be represented within this series please send me an email. Some examples can be seen below.

"So about yesterday" 8/100
"Yesterday was one of those days where everything went wrong. Plan A B and C didn't work. A rain cloud seemed to be following me. It felt like at every turn the universe was there to shove me around. Nothing went according to plan.
Does anyone else have days like that? Where it seems like everything you touch gets cursed?
I ended up going to bed early which is rare. But I felt like I had to leave Tuesday and enter Wednesday asap"

18/100 "Baby Meets Baby"
"My son is still trying to understand that I have a baby in my belly. He'll point to his belly and say baby. But yesterday he cuddled with me and put his head on my belly and kept saying baby. He's still so young but it made me feel like he was starting to get it". - Meredith Bullock

20/100 "7 minutes"
"I walk my youngest son to school nearly everyday. It's probably the best 7 mins of my day." - Joe Kim

21/100 "Ancestors"
"Last year, on my birthday to be exact, I learned that I am a direct descendant of the Freedmen who founded my family's hometown. Since then I was put in contact with my great-aunt who started a non-profit to preserve that history and the African American history in our county.
Since then I have rapidly taken on the responsibility of the next generation who continues to pass on this knowledge of history. I always have this feeling of fullness but my emotions shift from excitement to anxiety often because of the importance of this work and the countless needs. However, I'm also reminded of what incredible things were accomplished by the ancestors in spite of and I regain confidence to press on."
